There Any Other Options, Rather Than Using Credit Cards? |
Financial experts advise that people who have trouble controlling their use of credit cards should use cash. You may also opt to write a check. With the onset of debit cards, those are an ideal option for shopping. With debit cards, the money comes out of your linked account immediately at the time of purchase. It is similar to writing a check. With any of these methods, you are paying for the items at once. Living within your means is the best thing anyone can do to help repair their credit. You must always arm yourself with a budget. Write down all your expenses as well as your income. See where you can tighten your belt and make lifestyle changes to live without credit. If you cannot live within your income, you need to make adjustments on either the expense side or the income side. Putting excess charges on credit cards will not help in the long run. You will still have the expenses but with added interest charges as well. Give yourself a spending allowance each week and put that into the budget. This amount should cover your daily living expenses. If you have enough to buy a coffee each morning, you can, but when your allowance is gone, no more coffee! When you make your budget, also include an amount to be put into savings as well as another amount to savings that is to be used for emergencies. Many banks allow you to link your accounts together so you can transfer funds where they are needed. Challenge yourself to live on less.
If
you must have a credit card, use it wisely.
Keep it for emergency or travel only and make sure that when you
use it you will have enough money to pay off the balance at the end of
the month. If you must carry
a balance, try to keep it as low as possible.
Make monthly payments that are higher than the minimum payment
amount. That will help pay down your debt.
If you only pay the minimum due each month, it will take years
to pay off the debt.
